A daytime disco with soul, funk, disco, hip hop, R&B and house classics from the 70s to the 2000s, hosted by local DJs Paul Njie and Martin McCarron.
Soul On Sunday returns to Barras Art And Design Centre on Sunday 29 November, a daytime disco that runs from 1pm to 5.45pm. It's a dance party built for fans of disco, soul, R&B, hip hop and soulful house, with a selection of classics spanning the 1970s to the early 2000s. The music is provided by local DJs Paul Njie and Martin McCarron, who also run the whole thing.
They describe the formula as a recipe for feeling invigorated and ready to take on the world, with live artists and a day filled with music and vibrant energy. It's not a one-off, either: the series runs themed editions throughout the year, including the Soul On Sunday Halloween Day Party and the Soul On Sunday Christmas Day Party, both of which also take place at BAaD.
Speaking of the venue, Barras Art and Design is a studio, retail space and creative hub in the heart of the Barras Market in Glasgow's East End. It's best known for its covered courtyard with a glazed roof held up by pink steel arches, which is where the party happens. If you've never been, it's at 54 Calton Entry, G40 2SB.
