Soul II Soul return to the stage for their 2026 tour at the O2 Academy Glasgow, bringing their iconic Funki Dred sound and uplifting message.
Soul II Soul are back at O2 Academy Glasgow on Thursday 22 October, part of their 2026 tour. It's a nine-date run, and the Glasgow stop is one of them.
If you've never heard the name, it's worth knowing where they come from. Soul II Soul emerged from the UK soundsystem culture of 1980s London, moving from underground warehouse parties to global acclaim and redefining British black music with their Funki Dred style. Led by Jazzie B, the collective became a worldwide phenomenon, selling over 10 million albums and picking up two Grammy Awards. You'll know the big ones: 'Keep On Movin'' and the UK number one 'Back To Life (However Do You Want Me)'. Their live shows are built on deep basslines, rich soulful vocals and a particular energy that's carried them across more than 20 countries.
The Glasgow date brings that sound back to the stage, and the tour carries the same uplifting message they've always worked with: 'A Happy Face, Thumpin' Bass, for a Lovin' Race'. It's a good summary of what they do — the bass is the foundation, and the vocals sit on top of it.
