The Pogues return to Glasgow with the Play The Hits Tour, headlining the O2 Academy with original members James Fearnley, Jem Finer and Spider Stacy.
The Pogues return to the O2 Academy Glasgow on Tuesday 8 December, headlining the Glasgow leg of their Play The Hits Tour. It's their first time back in the city since their anniversary tours of the UK and North America, and this time they're bringing along Martin Stephenson & The Daintees to open the night.
On stage, the band is led by original members James Fearnley, Jem Finer and Spider Stacy, who are joined by their usual collection of guest musicians and singers, including some of the cream of the current generation of Irish artists. The set draws from the Pogues songbook — described as one of the most influential bodies of work to emerge from the 1980s — and runs through the songs that most people know: 'Fairytale of New York', 'Dirty Old Town', 'A Pair of Brown Eyes', 'Rainy Night in Soho' and 'If I Should Fall From Grace With God' are all on the list. They describe the tour as a way of infusing those songs with new life.

The Glasgow date is one of six on a UK tour, with alternative dates on 1, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 15 December, so if the 8th doesn't work, there are a few other options across the month. Doors open at 19:00 and the curfew is 23:00.
