Northern Irish indie songwriter SOAK returns to Scotland to headline King Tut's, an over-18s show.
SOAK is back at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut on Saturday 13 February, her first Glasgow date since her last run through Scotland. The Northern Irish indie songwriter headlines the night, and it's an over-18s show, so keep that in mind if you're bringing anyone along.
SOAK is the stage name of Bridie Monds-Watson, a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Derry. She's built her following as a raw and emotional live performer, and the songs she writes tend to sit in the textured, indie-folk territory. They're songs about adolescence, family and friendship, and the way she puts them together has drawn comparisons to artists as different as Laura Marling and Beach House — one for the folk side of things, the other for the more atmospheric, layered sound. If you've heard her before, you'll know that's a fair place to start.
Coming from Derry, she's crossing the water for this one, so it's a headline slot rather than a support turn. The set will be her own, and the Glasgow date is part of her return to Scotland. If you're familiar with her work, you'll recognise the Derry roots in the songwriting; if you're new to her, this is a good place to catch her headlining a room on her own.
