Contemporary Scottish music act Skipinnish on their Winter tour at The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
Skipinnish are back at The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Friday 4 December, part of their Winter tour. It's a venue they play often, and this date sees them returning to it as part of a run of winter shows.
They're a powerhouse of contemporary Scottish music from the Highlands and Islands, and the sound they've built over the years draws on the land, the sea and Gaelic culture. It blends bagpipes, fiddle, accordion and guitars with driving traditional melodies and original, anthemic songwriting. The band was founded in 1999 by Angus MacPhail and Andrew Stevenson, who met while studying at the R.S.A.M.D. in Glasgow; from there they grew from local pub gigs and ceilidhs into one of Scotland's most definitive contemporary folk acts.
They marked a 25-year journey in 2024 with a televised concert at Edinburgh Castle, which won 'Event of the Year' at the Scottish Trad Music Awards. They enter 2026 with an evolved line-up and the Nordoff and Robbins 'Sound of Scotland' title. The core band on stage will be Norrie MacIver on lead vocals and guitar, Archie McAllister on fiddle, Charlotte Printer on bass and Alistair Iain Paterson on piano. They'll be joined by guest musicians Andrew Stevenson on highland bagpipe and whistles, Rory Grindlay on drums, Angus Macphail on accordion and vocals and Alasdair Murray on highland bagpipes and whistles.
