A cheerful, relaxed singing-for-fun session led by Alan and Rebecca Tavener, suitable for all abilities with printed lyrics and refreshments available.
Sing For Your Life starts at St Brides Episcopal Church on Thursday 15 October, a singing-for-fun session led by Alan and Rebecca Tavener. It's free and open to everyone, and you don't need any prior experience of music or singing to join in.
The session is built around a wide range of favourite songs, all grouped by a theme, with printed lyrics provided so you can follow along without having to know the words by heart. The room is filled by a Steinway concert grand piano, and there are refreshments available, so it's as much about the social side as the singing. The Taveners describe it as a cheerful, relaxed get-together, leaning on the pleasure and health benefits of singing rather than any particular performance standard.
If you're not a regular singer, that's exactly the kind of thing this is for. There's no pressure to be a pro or to have a background in music; it's just about getting together and singing for the sake of it. The printed lyrics take the guesswork out of it, and the theme keeps the selection focused, so you're singing along with a room of people rather than on your own.
