The Royal Scottish National Orchestra performs John Williams' score live to picture as you relive the holiday classic Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
The Royal Scottish National Orchestra are bringing Home Alone 2: Lost in New York to the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Wednesday 23 December, with two performances that day: a matinee at 2:30pm and an evening show at 7:00pm. It's part of their 'at the Movies' series, and the format is exactly what it sounds like: the film runs on the big screen while the orchestra plays John Williams' score live to picture. The whole thing runs about two hours and twenty minutes, including a twenty-minute interval.
If you've seen the movie, you know the story. Kevin McCallister gets separated from his family at the airport, accidentally boards a plane to New York City, and spends the rest of the film outwitting the Wet Bandits, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, with a battery of booby traps. It's a holiday classic, and hearing Williams' score played live by a full orchestra instead of through speakers changes the whole experience.
Conducting the RSNO is Stefan Geiger, who's led orchestras across the world, including the Bremen State Youth Orchestra and the NDR Elbphilharmonie. He's also a co-founder and jury chairman of the German Games Music Award, and he's done his fair share of film work, conducting orchestral accompaniments to silent films like The Artist, Ben Hur and Battleship Potemkin. He became General Music Director at the Teatro Guaíra in Curitiba in 2016. The presentation is licensed by Disney Concerts.
