A musical tribute to the Bay City Rollers that celebrates the music, memories and passionate fandom of a generation, following two lifelong friends reconnecting on a Saturday night.
Rollers Forever opens at the Pavilion Theatre on Wednesday 14 October, running through to Saturday 17 October. It's a tartan-clad musical celebrating the music, memories and passionate fandom of the Bay City Rollers, with the band's iconic soundtrack brought to the stage through a story shaped by the fans themselves.
The plot follows two lifelong friends who reconnect on a Saturday night and find themselves pulled back into the excitement, laughter and teenage obsession that shaped their Roller-mania. It's less a straightforward tribute and more a look at the people who followed the band, with the hits and a celebration of friendship at its core. The show was written by award-winning playwright Danny McCahon and directed by acclaimed theatre-maker Liz Carruthers.
If you remember the tartan, the haircuts and the sheer scale of the fandom, you'll recognise the territory it covers. The Bay City Rollers were a phenomenon that defined a particular moment for a whole generation, and this production works its way through that history by focusing on the fans' own experiences rather than just the band on stage. It's a musical that leans into the nostalgia and the humour of it all, with the songs serving as the thread that ties the two friends' reunion back to their teenage years.
