A sensory, inclusive dance-theatre performance from Barrowland Ballet for children with complex needs, featuring acrobatic dance, live music and clapping rhythms.
Barrowland Ballet are bringing Poggle and Me to the Citizens Theatre on Thursday 10 and Friday 11 December, with two performances each day at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. It's a sensory, inclusive dance-theatre piece made specifically for children with complex needs, aged 7 to 15, and it's playing in the Studio Theatre.
The story follows Poggle, a mischief-maker who forms an unlikely friendship on an adventure through the forest. Along the way, he hops across the honeycomb, rescues the bees and plays among the pine trees. The show blends acrobatic dance, live music and clapping rhythms, with an imaginatively changing world that the audience explores. It's choreographed by Natasha Gilmore, and the whole thing runs for around 40 minutes.
There's a bit of a story behind it, too. Barrowland Ballet made Poggle and Me in partnership with Atta Festival in Turkey, with support from the British Council's International Collaboration Grant. The performances are relaxed and supportive, run to limited capacities, and are designed to be accessible for children with complex needs.
