Parviz brings the second leg of his Khorshid Khanoom Tour to Nice N Sleazy on Wednesday 18 November, with Wiffeney on support. It's a mid-week one, so keep that in mind if you're planning your night.
Parviz is touring his self-titled debut album, which is slated for 2026. The record draws on Iran's pre-revolutionary 1970s music scene, and the lead single, 'Azadeh' — a female given name meaning free spirit and independence — nods to the 'Woman Life Freedom' movement and the recent mass uprisings in Iran. The artwork is by Rana Fadavi, and the video was directed by Steph Hope and mastered by Katie Tavini. The follow-up, 'Sappho's Fragments', aired on BBC Radio 6 and has gathered more than half a million streams. He describes the sound as flowery, kaleidoscopic and contemplative, pairing piercing psychedelic guitars and detuned synths with DIY aesthetics and indie flair, all rooted in Persian culture and drawing on Iran's beloved music show Rangarang.
Opening the night is Wiffeney, the brainchild of Grammy-nominated drummer and producer Jai D — who's worked with Jay Z, Tyler The Creator and Haelos — and animator Steph Hope, known for her work with FX Networks and Haruomi Hosono. Their sound layers soulful vocals over infectious rhythms, sprawling guitars and gloopy synths, backed by their trademark psychedelic visuals.
