Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain brings his spoken word tour to Oran Mor, sharing stories from his life and career.
Nicko McBrain is coming to Oran Mór on Thursday 3 December, bringing his spoken word tour to the top of Byres Road. It's a different kind of night for the Iron Maiden drummer, who'll be trading the kit for a microphone to tell his story in person.
Most know him as the man behind the drums for Iron Maiden since 1982, where he's played on 14 studio albums and helped sell more than 100 million records over 42 years. But the show goes back further than that. Born in Hackney, East London in 1952, he first practised on his mother's pots and pans and was semi-professional by 14, playing with Streetwalkers, Pat Travers Band and Trust. There's a fair bit more to the story than just the drumming, too: he appeared on the children's show The Sooty Show in the 1980s, runs a restaurant in Florida, and has spoken openly about his battle with cancer, a near career-ending stroke and his born-again faith.
The evening follows his autobiography Hello Boys and Girls!, published 22 October 2026 via Harper Non Fiction, and is part stand-up and part audience interaction, charting the stories from behind the drum stool of one of rock's most admired men. Glasgow is one of several stops on the tour, which also visits Germany, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Malta and Ireland.
