Synth-pop trio MUNA headline the O2 Academy Glasgow on their Gets So Hot Tour, celebrating their album Dancing on the Wall, with support from EMMMA.
MUNA play the O2 Academy Glasgow on Friday 13 November, as part of their Gets So Hot tour. They're headlining the night, with EMMMA opening for them.
If you're not familiar, MUNA are an indie-pop trio — Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin and Naomi McPherson — who met at the University of Southern California and started playing experimental pop together. They've built their sound around queer womanhood and mental health, and they've been at it for a while: they self-released their debut EP More Perfect on Bandcamp and SoundCloud in 2014, and the attention it got led to an RCA Records contract, which saw them release the Loudspeaker EP two years later.
This tour is built around their fourth album, Dancing On The Wall, which pulls from dance, post-punk, synth-pop and new wave. It pairs propulsive instrumentals with the band's introspective, thoughtful lyricism — the kind of record that works as well on a dancefloor as it does when you're listening to the words on your own. That's the core of what they do: pop that doesn't shy away from the heavier stuff.

Doors open at 19:00, with a curfew of 23:00, so there's plenty of time to get in and settle before the music starts. MUNA headline the bill, and EMMMA supports them.
