A three-piece tribute to Rush performing classic songs from every era of the band at Oran Mor.
Moving Pictures are playing Òran Mór on Friday 5 February, a three-piece tribute to Rush. They're from Arisaig, in the West Highlands, and they used to go by The Tobes of Hades. They've been playing more than 70 gigs a year since 2023, touring the UK, Europe, Brazil and Canada. That's taken them to headlining slots at RUSHfest Brazil in 2024 and RUSHfest Canada at Massey Hall in Toronto, as well as a performance at Lakeside Park for Neil Peart's family. They've recorded on all three Songs for Neil tribute albums and have performed and recorded with Rush producer Terry Brown. Judy Peart, Neil Peart's brother, is quoted as saying, 'When I listened to Moving Pictures, I closed my eyes and I could hear my brother.'
The set runs over two hours and works its way through the band's eras. They lean on double-neck guitars for the classics — Tom Sawyer, The Spirit of Radio and Xanadu — and pull in deep cuts like By Tor alongside later belters such as Far Cry and Headlong Flight. This 2027 tour marks 50 years of A Farewell to Kings.
