Leicester indie singer-songwriter Martin Luke Brown performs live at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, a strictly 18+ venue.
Martin Luke Brown plays King Tut's Wah Wah Hut on Friday 27 November, with doors opening at 19:30. He's a singer-songwriter from Leicester, and this is a headline show — just him on the bill.
His path to this stage hasn't been a straight line. He signed a record deal at 21, dropped it and quit the whole artist project about six months later, then spent the next five years producing and writing for other artists. That period took him into rooms with the likes of BTS, Lizzy McAlpine and James Blunt, so he's spent a good chunk of his career working behind the scenes rather than in front of them.
He eventually stepped back into the spotlight during lockdown, releasing his first album independently with his friend Matt Zara. Since then, he's put out a second and a third album, and he's also part of FIZZ, a side project he formed with Orla Gartland, Dodie and Greta Isaac. His songwriting draws on classic influences, and he's cited Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and The Beatles among them. His first single, 'Nostalgia', looks back at the experiences of friends in their twenties during the 2000s.
