Rising Glasgow folk band Lussa performs with special guests Juliette Lemoine and Chris Amer at the prestigious Glasgow Royal Concert Hall as part of the Celtic Connections festival.
Lussa play the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Thursday 21 January, as part of Celtic Connections. They're sharing the bill with Juliette Lemoine and Chris Amer, so the night brings together three different names on one stage rather than just one band.
Lussa are a four-piece folk band from Glasgow's traditional music scene, formed within Scotland's thriving trad community. Their sound is built around fiddle-led melodies, with guitar, banjo and keys filling out the rest. They play a mix of original and traditional tunes, and they describe their own approach as blending contemporary flair with a deep respect for traditional roots. It's a sound they bring to both the new things they're writing and the older tunes they're covering, and they're known for playing them with warmth, precision and infectious enthusiasm.
They've built their reputation on the local circuit, with standout appearances at the Danny Kyle Open Stage and the Hands Up for Trad Battle of the Folk Bands. Those two are well-known fixtures for anyone who follows the Scottish folk scene, and coming out of them has helped establish Lussa as one of the more exciting emerging acts in the city right now. This show is part of Celtic Connections, the international folk festival that takes over Glasgow every January, so it's one of the many dates that fall into that window.
