Lene Lovich performs live with her full band at Ivory Blacks, presented by Stigmata Presents.
Lene Lovich plays Ivory Blacks on Saturday 7 November, with her full band behind her. It's a headline set, not a support slot, so she'll be taking the full stage for the night. The Glasgow date is presented by Stigmata Presents.
Lovich is billed as an idiosyncratic goth punk empress, and that's a fair shorthand for what she brings. Her voice is the thing that sticks — affected, high-pitched, and delivered with a cap-gun staccato that was decades ahead of its time. It's the kind of singing that paved the way for countless artists who followed in her wake, and hearing it live with a full band is a different experience from the records.
She's back on tour playing full headline sets, and this comes fresh from a run supporting the B-52's and DEVO in the US, as well as a handful of selective arena shows across the UK. This is a proper night out with her band, rather than a stripped-back affair, so you'll get the full sound. It's a good chance to see her doing her own thing on her own terms, rather than as an opening act.
