Beginner line dancing sessions for all abilities at Maggie's Rock 'N' Rodeo, covering country tunes and moves such as the two-step and the grapevine.
Maggie's Rock 'N' Rodeo runs line dancing every Tuesday in The Hoedown, their dedicated space at 60 Trongate in Glasgow city centre. It's a weekly thing rather than a one-off, so you can drop in when it suits you. The night is split into three back-to-back classes: beginners from 6:00 to 7:00pm, improvers from 7:00 to 8:00pm, and intermediate from 8:00 to 9:00pm, with doors open from 5:45pm. If you've never done it before, the beginner slot is where you start; if you've got a few steps under your belt, you can jump into the improvers or intermediate sessions.
Maggie herself leads the classes, and she's the same person who fronts the venue's Cowboy Ceilidh. The sessions work through country tunes and the standard moves you'll see on a dance floor, like the two-step and the grapevine. They describe it as a warm welcome for all abilities and no judgement, which is a good thing to keep in mind if you're worried about turning up with two left feet.
It helps to know where you're heading, too. Maggie's Rock 'N' Rodeo is a Trongate bar themed on Nashville dive bars and shows like Yellowstone, with live music and late openings until 3am every night. There's a Bull Pit with a mechanical bull open seven days a week and an all-American menu. Beyond the line dancing, the venue runs a Cowboy Ceilidh, One Night In Tennessee open-mic country nights, and a Big Ol' Pub Quiz with Katt Wolfe. So if you fancy a drink or a bite to eat before or after your class, you're in the right place.
