A one-day anime and manga celebration with activities, panels, tournaments, cosplay competitions, workshops and screenings.
Koyo Con is coming to the SEC Centre on Saturday 24 October, a one-day anime and manga celebration that marks the event's first time at the venue. It's Fan Frontier's first new autumn anime con and the sister event to Kaiju Con, which runs in May. This edition leans into the season with an autumn theme and Halloween prop sets, and the day is packed with as much anime and manga-related activity as they could fit into a single event.
There's a lot to get through in one day. The programme includes panels, tournaments, cosplay competitions, workshops, and screenings, alongside games, live karaoke on stage and lip sync battles. If you're into the more creative side, the workshops and cosplay competitions are where you'll find people making and wearing the characters, while the panels and screenings lean into the watching and talking. The tournaments and games bring in the competitive side, and the karaoke and lip sync battles keep things loud on stage. It's a full day's worth of things to do, so you can pick and choose what to drop into.
Koyo Con was formerly known as Rai Con Winter, so if that name sounds familiar, it's the same event under a new title. It's a one-day affair, which means everything is squeezed into a single Saturday rather than spread across a weekend. If you're coming from outside the city, the SEC is well-connected, and since it's a one-day thing, you don't need to worry about booking a hotel for the whole weekend.
