Katherine Jenkins brings her 25 Year Anniversary Tour to the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Monday 19 October, with the cellist Jodok joining her as special guest. It's a milestone tour, marking a quarter-century since she first stepped onto the professional stage.
Jenkins has built a career around the classical crossover, and the numbers back up the scale of it: 14 number-one albums since signing to Universal Classics at 22. She first made her mark in 2003 with a performance at Westminster Cathedral for Pope John Paul II, and from there she became a regular at royal events, singing at Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee, Coronation concerts at Buckingham Palace, and the Queen's 90th birthday at Windsor Castle. She was awarded an OBE in 2013.
Beyond the stage, she's known for her charity work as global patron of The Wilderness Foundation, ambassador for Prince William's TUSK Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support, and trustee of The British Forces Foundation — a connection that earned her the nickname 'Forces Sweetheart'. During the pandemic, she performed 25 free 'lockdown live' concerts, including sets at Buckingham Palace and the Royal Albert Hall. She's also stepped into other roles: a West End debut in Carousel, appearances in Doctor Who and Dancing with the Stars, and the launch of her own luxury gin brand, Cygnet.
