Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra tour, with special guests Roachford, Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall and Sumudu Jayatilaka.
Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra are playing the SEC Armadillo on Friday 4 December, part of their Autumn Tour 2026. It's a big band on a big stage, and the line-up is a twenty-piece that puts piano, organ and drums alongside female vocals, electric guitar, bass and a full horn section. Holland himself is the boogie-woogie pianist leading the whole thing.
He's been a television presenter since 1992, hosting Later... with Jools Holland on BBC2, and was awarded an OBE in 2003. He's also kept up a prolific recording career since signing to Warner Music in 1996, with the Jools Holland and Friends series featuring guests like Sting, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Bono and Norah Jones. The orchestra he's touring with dates back to 1994, and it's that full, brassy sound that carries the night.
There are special guests on the bill too. Roachford, whose 1988 hit Cuddly Toy topped the UK charts, has also been sought out as a songwriter by Michael Jackson, Joss Stone and Chaka Khan. Opening each night is Joe Webb, one of the UK's most exciting young pianists and improvisers, who's guested with Jools on stage and appeared on his BBC New Year's Eve Jools' Annual Hootenanny. Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall and Sumudu Jayatilaka are also listed as special guests.
