The Theatre School of Scotland's annual Christmas pantomime, a family hit, at the SEC's Lomond Auditorium.
The Theatre School of Scotland are bringing Jack & The Beanstalk to the Lomond Auditorium at the SEC, with the run starting on 16 December and continuing through to 24 December. It's their annual pantomime, the one they stage every Christmas, and this year it's the beanstalk story taking centre stage.
If you're not familiar with how they work, it helps to know who's on stage. The school builds its productions around its students, aged seven and up, so the cast is made up of young people rather than professional imports. The work they do ranges from full-scale musical productions to acting and ensemble pieces, and the panto falls into that musical camp. It's a family-friendly tradition they've kept going year after year, and they describe it as always a hit.
There's a bit more to the school than just the Christmas show, too. They run a thriving agency alongside their in-house productions, and they talk about the way the two work together to create performance opportunities for their students. The panto is the biggest of those opportunities, the one that brings the whole thing together in the SEC's Lomond Auditorium for a few weeks in December.
