An untutored, relaxed life-drawing session open to everyone with no experience necessary, held at McChuills Bar.
Illuminated Figures Life Drawing is back at McChuills Bar on Monday 12 October, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. It's an untutored, relaxed life drawing session open to everyone, and no experience is necessary, so you don't need to have ever picked up a pencil to join in.
The evening runs for two hours with a fifteen-minute break in the middle. It starts with short poses to warm up before moving on to longer ones, giving you a chance to find your rhythm before settling in. Materials are provided on the night, though you're more than welcome to bring your own if you have a particular set of pencils or paper you prefer. The whole thing is designed to be low-pressure, so you can just show up and draw.
There's a clear set of values behind the project, too. The organisers talk about putting value and respect into the model's work: paying models properly and fairly, and putting their comfort, security and safety above all else. Good tunes fill the room while you work, and you can follow them on Instagram at @illuminatedfigures.
