The live stage musical version of the Horrible Histories series, bringing historical figures and events to life through actors and 3D effects.
Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain is coming to The King's Theatre from 9 to 11 September 2027, a three-day run in the city centre. It's the live stage version of the Horrible Histories series, based on the bestselling books by Terry Deary and illustrated by Martin Brown, and the Glasgow run is being presented as a BSC world premiere.
The show is billed as 'the horrible history of Britain with the nasty bits left in', and it's aimed at the whole family. It brings historical figures and events to life through actors and 3D effects, so it's more of a performance than a lecture. The Glasgow run invites audiences to enrol at Georgian Crime School, dance the Tyburn jig, and follow the antics of figures like Henry and Guy Fawkes. Horrible Histories is a registered trademark of Scholastic Inc.

If you've got kids in the house, it's a good one for them, but it works as a family outing too. The run is short—just the 9th, 10th, and 11th of September—so you'll want to pick your night early. Tickets range from £12.50 to £81.60, and the theatre is at 297 Bath Street, Glasgow G2 4JN.
