Gary Meikle returns to the stage with a brand new show, Yer Maw, featuring stories, opinions and observations about himself, his family and the audience.
Gary Meikle is back at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Friday 6 November with a brand new show, Yer Maw. It's another 80 to 90 minutes of stories, opinions and observations about himself, his family and the audience, and he's the only name on the bill.
He describes the set as being about people and the mad things they do, sometimes animals too, but more often the stupid scenarios they end up in. And he's given us a specific guarantee: it'll contain at least one 'yer maw' joke. He writes the blurb himself, and he's open about the process, noting that each year he has to sit and write one before he even knows which stories he'll actually share on the night. He also adds a warning that the show isn't suitable for small people.
It's a solo hour and a half, so the whole thing rests on his storytelling and the way he works the room. If you've seen him before, you'll know the territory he covers—family, the people around him and the audience—so this is new material built on that same ground. The Royal Concert Hall recommends the show for ages 16 and over.
