Frankie Monroe performs his two award-winning shows, LIVE and DEAD, back to back in one evening at The Stand Comedy Club.
Frankie Monroe is back at The Stand Comedy Club on Sunday 1 November, and this time he's bringing two shows in one. He's billed as 'Yorkshire's Biggest Bastard', and the night pairs his first two sell-out, award-winning shows, LIVE and DEAD, back to back in a single evening. It's his biggest show to date, and since it's an afternoon slot, it's one of those gigs you can catch before the Sunday night slump sets in.
If you've followed his work, you'll know the two shows run into each other. LIVE and DEAD follow him as he escapes, saves his working men's club from demonic ruin, and then climbs his way back out of hell, with plenty of big, daft laughs along the way. Putting them together in one sitting lets the whole story play out in one go, rather than in separate sittings.
The Stand is on 420 Great Western Road in the West End, a spot that's been a Glasgow comedy fixture since 1995. It started as a hobby for a group of enthusiasts and grew into a commercial company that still keeps its roots in developing new comedy in Scotland. The programme there runs from Red Raw beginners' nights to improvised comedy, sketch shows, and Irish and Scottish showcases, alongside solo shows from better-known names. It's regarded by many performers and critics as one of the best comedy venues in the world, and just over 100,000 people went through its doors last year.
