The world's favourite George Michael celebration show, direct from London's West End, returns to The Pavilion Theatre with a full video and light show.
Fastlove: The Tribute To George Michael plays The Pavilion Theatre on Sunday 18 October, with the show starting at 7.30pm. It's a tribute to George Michael, brought over from London's West End, and it's part of a tour that's now running in 18 countries with more than 500,000 tickets sold worldwide. The production pairs its cast with a full video and light show, and it isn't affiliated with the original artists or their estates. Critics have called it 'the closest you can get to the real thing' and 'the best George Michael tribute in the world'.
The set runs through George Michael's hits from Wham! through to his solo career, so it covers both the early pop and the later, more polished material. On the list are Wake Me Up, Too Funky, Father Figure, Freedom, Faith, Knew You Were Waiting and Careless Whisper. It's a broad sweep of his work, from the upbeat stuff to the ballads, and it's the Wham! years and the solo years played side by side.
There's a bit of history to the venue, too. The Pavilion Theatre opened on 29 February 1904 as the Pavilion Theatre of Varieties, designed by architect Bertie Crewe. It's now a category A listed building, protected for its French Renaissance terracotta frontage and Rococo plasterwork. Run by Trafalgar Theatres, it's a Glasgow fixture for comedy, tribute and nostalgia nights, and it's hosted a pantomime every year since 1920.
