An early evening cabaret production featuring performances, finish-the-lyrics rounds, bingo, nostalgic gameshows, quizzes, musical statues and karaoke hosted by the venue's resident drag personalities.
Don't F*ck Up The Lyrics runs every Saturday at The Riding Room, 58 Virginia Street in Glasgow city centre. It's a new early evening production that the venue describes as being like a Saturday night at your demented auntie's hoose, and the whole thing is built on you getting involved rather than just watching from a table.
It's a bit of a mixed bag of a night. Performances give way to finish-the-lyrics rounds, one-round bingo, nostalgic gameshows, quick-fire quizzes, musical statues and karaoke with prizes. The room is hosted by a rotating cast of the venue's resident drag personalities, so who's running the show changes from week to week. It's the kind of thing that works better if you're game to join in than if you're just there to watch.
The Riding Room itself — also known as the Joint on the Corner — is a cocktail and cabaret bar that programmes seven nights of on-stage activity every week, mixing live sets, burlesque, side-show and magic. The cocktails come in everything from tin cans and jam jars to silver kettles, and there's an absinthe hard liquor cabinet on site.
