A musical celebration of the women who have made their mark on the West End stage, featuring songs from Wicked, Les Misérables, Mamma Mia and more, performed by a cast of vocalists backed by an all-female band.
Defying Gravity - West End Women returns to The Pavilion Theatre on Tuesday 23 February 2027, with the show starting at 19:00. It's a celebration of the women who've made their mark on the West End stage, and it forms part of the wider West End Women series.
The set works its way through a selection of best-loved songs from the West End and Broadway, performed by a cast of vocalists backed by an all-female band. You'll hear numbers from Wicked, Les Misérables, Mamma Mia, Waitress and more, so it pulls from a fair few different corners of the musical theatre world rather than sticking to one era or style.
Alongside the music, the evening folds in backstage anecdotes and insights into the world of West End women, so it's not just a run of songs — there's a bit of storytelling woven in between. The whole thing is built around that theme of the women who've worked on the West End stage, and the all-female band keeps that running through the music too.
