The daytime disco that doesn't ruin your Sunday returns to BAaD with 90s dance, Motown and classic hits.
Day Fever is back at Barras Art and Design Centre (BAaD) on Saturday 31 October, and it's not just a one-off. It's part of a run that keeps going through the end of the year, with more dates on 28 November and 19 December. All three run from 3pm to 8pm, so you're in and out well before the night even really gets going.
If you've never come across it, Day Fever is a Saturday daytime disco that describes itself as the one that 'doesn't ruin your Sunday'. It was started in 2024 by Vicky McClure, Jonny Owen and Reverend & The Makers, and it's grown into a bit of a thing across the UK, with thousands of people packing clubs and theatres every weekend. The music is a broad sweep of the 20th century's greatest hits, with 90s dance, Motown and classic hits all in the mix. It's a safe space with no dress code and no egos, so you can just turn up and dance without worrying about what you're wearing or who's watching.
Vicky McClure has spoken about why it matters, saying that seeing people enjoying themselves and hearing everyone's stories made her realise how important it is for people to take time out and have a good dance. That's the whole point of it: a few hours of dancing on a Saturday afternoon, and you're still home in time for a proper evening and a fresh start on Sunday.
