A festive pantomime of Cinderella with theatrical magic and mischief at the Citizens Theatre, recommended for ages 6 and up.
Cinderella opens at the Citizens Theatre on 28 November, running through to 31 December. It's the Citz's family show of the year, a brand-new take on the fairytale written by Stuart Paterson and directed by Joanna Bowman. The story follows the one you know: Cinderella working herself to the bone in the cold, dark kitchens, her cruel and greedy step-sisters playing nasty tricks, and the new friends and bit of magic that eventually get her to the Prince's ball.
Bowman describes it as a Citz Christmas show packed with joy, delight and music, heavy on spectacle and surprise, and at heart a story of a young woman discovering what she really wants for herself. It's recommended for ages 6 and up. The production follows the theatre's Beauty and the Beast, which was nominated for Best Show for Children & Young People at the UK Theatre Awards and won the CATS Award in the same category.
On stage, Molly Geddes takes the title role, with Claire Dargo as the stepmother Claudia, and Hannah Visocchi and Emma Mullen as the step-sisters Claudine and Claudette. Leandro Daniel plays the Prince, Callum Geddes as Callum, Keith Macpherson as the King/Father, and Michael Dylan as Sergeant Puff, with Mhairi Watt and Angus Bhattacharya as understudies. The creative team includes Jess Worrall on design, John Patrick Elliot on music, Lizzie Powell on lighting, Ben Morgan on sound, Jack Webb as choreographer and movement director, and Tim Licata as clown director and magician.
