A Mòd celebration at Van Winkle featuring live traditional Scottish music by Andrew Gordon and Iain Anderson of Glencarse Promotions, with Scottish-inspired food and drinks.
Van Winkle is bringing a slice of the Mòd Gaelic Festival to Glasgow on Friday 16 October, from 16:00 to 18:00. The afternoon is built around live traditional Scottish music, with the Mòd spirit brought into the city through a mix of tunes, Scottish flavours and a Highland welcome.
On the music side, Andrew Gordon and Iain Anderson of Glencarse Promotions are the ones taking the stage. They're both acclaimed traditional Scottish musicians, each with more than 30 years of performing experience behind them. They describe their playing as high-quality with a focus on fun, interaction and audience engagement, so it's the kind of set that works as well if you're leaning in as if you're just having a drink and listening from the bar.
There's more to it than just the music, though. You can get a special cocktail made with Loch Lomond Whisky and Ben Lomond Gin, alongside a selection of Scottish-inspired canapé tasters. Between the two, it's a good way to lean into the Highland theme of the afternoon. Spaces are limited, so if you're planning on it, it's worth getting your name down early.

Van Winkle itself sits in the heart of Glasgow's East End, opposite the Barrowland Ballroom. It serves beer, BBQ and pizza, and holds what it calls Scotland's largest selection of Bourbons, with locally sourced food prepared fresh in-house and 'The Jack Daniels Beer Garden' out back. The Mòd celebration runs from 16:00 to 18:00 on Friday 16 October, and it's £5 per person.
