A live, multi-sensory candlelight concert featuring the Belford String Quartet performing the music of Leonard Cohen in a historic Victorian venue.
The Belford String Quartet are taking on the songbook of Leonard Cohen at The Merchants House of Glasgow on Saturday 14 November. It's a Candlelight concert, which means the whole room is lit by thousands of flameless candles, and the music is played by a string quartet rather than a full band. The set is a tribute, so it's not affiliated with Cohen's estate or official representatives.
The venue is the Grand Hall of The Merchants House, at 7 West George Street. It's a historic city-centre spot with a capacity of around 200, housed in a Victorian building designed by John Burnet that opened in 1874. The hall is finished with ornate ceilings, stained-glass windows, and a sweeping marble staircase. The Merchants House itself is a charitable organisation that dates back to 1605, and this is its fourth home.
