Candlelight: Tribute To Michael Jackson

A string quartet is taking on Michael Jackson at The Merchants House of Glasgow on Saturday 31 October, as part of the Candlelight concert series. The whole thing is played under the glow of candlelight, which is the one thing that stays the same across their different shows, regardless of who they're covering.

The setlist pulls from across Jackson's career, and it's a long one. You'll hear the early Motown days with I Want You Back, the disco era of Rock With You, and the pop peaks of Billie Jean, Say Say Say, Smooth Criminal, Black or White, Bad, and Thriller. The slower, more melodic side is there too, with Human Nature, Man in the Mirror, Heal the World, and Earth Song. They've also included We Are the World and Remember the Time, so it covers a fair bit of ground in an hour.

The Merchants House of Glasgow is a 200-capacity historic venue in the city centre, housed in a Victorian building designed by John Burnet and opened in 1874. The ornate ceilings, stained-glass windows, and sweeping marble staircase make it a proper room for an intimate concert like this. It's a tribute, not an official production, so it's not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Michael Jackson, his estate, or his official representatives.

The concert runs for 60 minutes, starting at 6:15pm, with doors opening 45 minutes before. Tickets are £21.50. It's recommended for ages 8 and above, and under-16s have to be accompanied by an adult. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
