Two celebrated traditional music bands come together for a spectacular ten-piece collaboration as part of Celtic Connections 2027.
Breabach and Le Vent du Nord are playing together at The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Sunday 17 January 2027, as part of Celtic Connections 2027. The show is called Le Retour: Scotland Meets Quebec, and it brings together Scotland's Breabach and Quebec's Le Vent du Nord as a ten-piece collaboration. They're describing it as more than a double bill, with the two bands playing together as one ensemble rather than taking separate turns on stage.
The set draws on the cultural connections between Scotland and Quebec, mixing blazing reels and soaring pipes with step-dance, songs, hurdy-gurdy, accordion and fiddle. It's a big, combined sound that brings together the traditional music of both sides of the Atlantic, and it sits within the wider Celtic Connections festival that takes over the city every January.
The venue is the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Sauchiehall Street, one of the city's most prestigious stages. It's a curved stone building with an acoustically excellent auditorium that seats up to 2,475 people. It's home to the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and its stage has hosted names like BB King, Johnny Cash, Van Morrison, David Byrne and Debbie Harry.
