Darkwave outfit Boy Harsher headline SWG3 as part of their Heartbreak Tour, with special guests Choir Boy and deBasement.
Boy Harsher play SWG3 on Wednesday 2 December, part of their Heartbreak Tour. They're not alone on the bill, either: Choir Boy and deBasement are both on as special guests, so the night starts well before the main set.
If you're not familiar with them, Boy Harsher have been putting out what some call the gold standard of electronic body music since 2014. It's a sound that pulls from post-punk, darkwave and industrial, built around pulsating rhythms and raw emotion. Live, they describe the experience as reckless and enveloping, which gives you a fair idea of the energy they bring to the stage. The duo behind it is Matthews and Muller, who met in Savannah, Georgia, while they were both studying film; their interest in music started with cinema, and that cinematic thread has stayed with them.
Their latest album, The Runner (Original Soundtrack), scores a short horror film that they wrote, produced and directed themselves. And they're not stopping there: they're currently working on their debut feature, The Lonely Woman, which stars Chloë Sevigny, FKA twigs, Sturgill Simpson and Will Oldham. The Glasgow date is one stop on their UK tour.
