It's a long way back to the start: the band formed on Long Island, New York, and more than half a century has passed since they first came together and took the name Blue Öyster Cult. Original members Eric Bloom on vocals and rhythm guitar and Donald 'Buck Dharma' Roeser on lead guitar still lead the group, alongside Richie Castellano on guitar and keyboards, Danny Miranda on bass, and Jules Radino on drums. Their best-known songs include '(Don't Fear) The Reaper', 'Godzilla', 'Burnin' for You', 'Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll', 'Veteran Of The Psychic Wars', 'Astronomy', 'Black Blade' and 'Shooting Shark', and the albums Agents of Fortune and Spectres earned platinum and gold status in the US. Metallica, among other acts, have cited them as an influence, and VH1 ranked them among the greatest hard rock bands of all time.

They're still a working studio band, too. The Symbol Remains (2020) was their first album in 19 years, followed by Ghost Stories in 2024. The tour title marks 55 years on the road, and the Glasgow date falls on Saturday 3 April 2027 at the Royal Concert Hall, with When Rivers Meet supporting.
