A hands-on creative drop-in workshop where participants use music to guide their marks, lines, shapes and colours to create expressive artwork.
Making Marks to Music is running at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum on Tuesday 13 and Thursday 15 October, as part of the Big Draw. It's a hands-on creative session where you listen to the rhythm and follow the beat, letting the music guide your marks. Working with lines, shape and colour, you create an expressive piece of artwork inspired by sound, drawing on the idea of synaesthesia — that crossover where one sense triggers another.
It's a family-friendly workshop, so it works as well for kids as it does for adults. The whole point is to stop thinking about what you're drawing and just let the music do the work, so you don't need any experience to get involved. You just listen and let the sound dictate where the lines go and how the colours land.

Both sessions run from 1.30pm, with last entry at 3.30pm, and they're drop-in, so you can turn up whenever suits you rather than committing to a set time. There's no ticket required, and it's free to take part. The venue is Kelvingrove, one of Glasgow's most visited museums, on Argyle Street (G3 8AG), so it's easy to find if you're heading into the West End.
