An evening of music by candlelight with the Scottish Ensemble at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, part of the museum's 'Winter Nights, Warmed by Music' series.
Scottish Ensemble are playing at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum on Wednesday 9 December, as part of the museum's Winter Nights, Warmed by Music series. It's an annual concert where the ensemble plays strings by candlelight, set against the glow of the gallery. They describe it as a cosy refuge from the winter chill, with moments of reflection, wonder and delight for audiences of all ages.
This is a strings-only evening, and the candlelight is a big part of it. The ensemble bills the night as a way to hunker down when the weather turns, and the museum's Winter Nights series is built around that same idea. It's an all-ages show, though under-16s need to be accompanied by an adult.
The Glasgow date is one stop on the ensemble's 2026-27 tour, which takes the candlelight concert to several other historic venues across Scotland. So this isn't a one-off; it's part of a wider run of these nights throughout the winter.
