London alt-pop producer beaux headlines a show at the historic King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow.
beaux headlines King Tut's Wah Wah Hut on Tuesday 20 October, presented by DF Concerts with special guests. It's a headline slot for the London alt-pop producer, who'll be taking the main stage at the venue on St Vincent Street.
Born Beaux South, he's a British-Turkish Cypriot singer-songwriter working in indie-pop and synth-pop. He's self-taught, and his lyrics have a diary-like quality to them, built around catchy hooks. The sound sits somewhere between bedroom-pop intimacy and atmospheric production, and his debut album, I Thought We'd Live Here Forever, gave us 'Cut My Hair' — the track that topped TikTok charts and helped him rack up millions of streams and billions of views on the platform.
King Tut's is a room with a long memory. It opened at 272a St Vincent Street in 1990 and has since become one of the world's most celebrated small venues: NME named it 'Britain's Best Small Venue' in 2011 and 'quite possibly the finest small venue in the world' in 2007, while Radio 1 called it the 'UK's Best Live Venue' three years running. It's the place where Alan McGee signed Oasis in 1993 and that launched the careers of Radiohead, The Killers, Florence & The Machine, Biffy Clyro, Manic Street Preachers, Snow Patrol, Frightened Rabbit and Paolo Nutini. The 300-capacity room remains an integral part of Glasgow's grassroots scene.
