8 Out of 10 Celts comes to The Stand Comedy Club on Wednesday 14 October, a chaotic game show that pits Wales, Ireland and Scotland against each other in a series of increasingly silly tasks and games. The performers double as judges, and the whole thing is hosted by Sam Lake, who plays the part of a token English/Cornish man. It's a ramshackle setup, and the title gives away the joke: the odds are stacked against the English host.
The show is fronted by the stars of BBC Radio 4's The Rest of Us. Mary Flanigan is a Belfast writer and stand-up who was nominated for the Leicester Mercury Award in 2023 and is part of the BBC Northern Ireland Writersroom group 'Belfast Voices', which supported Fern Brady on tour. Esyllt Sears is a stand-up from Aberystwyth and presenter of the Comedy Club on BBC Radio 4 Extra, and she co-hosts the I'm So Not Over It and The Pod of Wales podcasts. Eleanor Morton is an Edinburgh writer, actor and comedian best known for her viral sketches as 'Craig' the dour tour guide; her 2024 sell-out show Haunted House won a Bestie award.
Sam Lake, from Cornwall, holds his own as the host. He was named Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year, and his show Esmรฉralda won an ISH Comedy Award for Best Show. He'll be the one trying to keep the night on the rails while the three Celtic nations go at it.

It's at The Stand Comedy Club, 420 Great Western Road in the West End, G4 9HZ. Doors open at 19:00, and the show runs from 20:00 to 22:00, so it's a full two hours of it. If you're heading in, give yourself time to get a drink and settle in before it kicks off.
