A double bill of theatre by young Scottish theatre-makers Briony Martha and Milly Sweeney, exploring the hazards of growing up in an online society.
Briony Martha and Milly Sweeney are sharing a bill at Summerhall on Friday 30 October, with Martha performing Parasocial Activity and Sweeney bringing Almond. It's a double bill of two young theatre-makers, and both pieces sit within the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival's (SMHAF) programme for young people.
There's a clear thread running through the two: they both look at the hazards of growing up in a society that's constantly online. Parasocial Activity takes on the unhealthy relationships people can develop with AI chatbots, while Almond looks at online discussion groups that encourage eating disorders. Put together, they cover a fair bit of the ground that comes with spending a lot of your time on a screen.
Parasocial Activity isn't a new arrival, either. It was Briony Martha's 2026 Edinburgh Fringe show, where it picked up a Fringe First and was shortlisted for the Mental Health Foundation Fringe Award. This is a chance to catch it again, and this time alongside Sweeney's Almond.

The double bill is part of the wider 2026 season at Summerhall, which marks the 20th year of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival. Both shows run in the Red Lecture Theatre, on 30 October.
