A showcase of brand-new solo works by early-career theatre-makers from Scottish Youth Theatre, directed by Candice Edmunds.
Scottish Youth Theatre bring their Trajectories Showcase to Summerhall on Saturday 31 October, a day of brand-new solo work from five early-career theatre-makers. The line-up is Amy Brennan-Clark, Cormac Myles, Lexie Ashcroft, Sean Fullwood and Tsen Day-Beaver, with the whole thing directed by Candice Edmunds. Each of them has developed their own piece, and they're all being shown on the same day.
It's a showcase of new work, so you're seeing these pieces as they first come together. The five makers have been working with Edmunds to test new ground in their practice and find their own artistic voices, and that's what ends up on stage. They describe the result as a collection of carefully constructed worlds, full of bold ideas, wit, unease and the unexpected, reshaping the familiar and holding a mirror up to the world around us. Each one is a solo, so it's one person on stage at a time.
The day runs from 3pm to 8pm, and the work is split across two spaces in the building: the Tech Cube and the Anatomy Lecture Theatre. Every solo is performed twice, as part of a double bill, so you can catch the same piece at different times if you're around for the whole afternoon. Some of the performances run at limited capacity, so it's worth checking the specific slots before you head over.

Tickets start from £8.00 per person. The artists' notes make a point of how important it is to support emerging makers and ensure they receive paid opportunities, so this is one of those days where showing up does a bit more than just get you a ticket. It's at Summerhall, 1 Summerhall, Edinburgh EH9 1PL, on Saturday 31 October, from 3pm to 8pm.
