Soft rock band Wytch play Sneaky Pete's on Cowgate with their Sapphire tour, blending 1970s influences and synthesizers.
Wytch play Sneaky Pete's on Friday 22 October, as part of their Sapphire tour. They're a five-piece from the South Coast of England, and they've built their sound around 1970s influences, synthesizers and witty lyricism.
Their self-titled debut album got BBC Introducing radio play and strong reviews from critics, and they've grown a following of around 20,000 on TikTok. They've just recorded a new EP with Phill Brown, an engineer and producer whose credits run from Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones to David Bowie and Led Zeppelin. That's a lot of rock history in one room, and it's the kind of name that puts the new material in a particular context.
They describe themselves as an ethereal soft rock band, and the 1970s influence they talk about sits right there in the sound — the synthesizers and the lyrics they lean on. The new EP comes after that debut album, so the set will draw from both. It's a quintet on stage, and they're bringing their dramatic stage show to the Cowgate as part of the Sapphire tour.
