British roots-rock trio Wille and the Bandits play The Voodoo Rooms on their Salt Roots tour, for over-18s only.
Wille and the Bandits are back at The Voodoo Rooms on Sunday 7 March, as part of their Salt Roots tour. The Cornish roots-rockers have played the venue before, and this is their return to Edinburgh.
They're a British three-piece who formed in 2010 and have put out several albums since then. The thing they're best known for is a sound that pushes the boundaries of what you'd expect from a trio, blending blues, rock, Latin and folk with grooves that range from world music to heavy rock. It's a wide net to cast, and they're hard to pin to one particular style.
Part of that comes from the instruments they bring on stage. The tongue drum, djembe, lap steel guitar and double bass all find a home in their arrangements, and that mix of sounds is their trademark. The songwriting draws comparisons to 1970s greats like Led Zeppelin, Santana and Pink Floyd, so it's roots rock taken to a different place than you'll usually find it.
