Annual conference of Voluntary Health Scotland bringing together leaders, practitioners and partners across the third, public and academic sectors.
Voluntary Health Scotland (VHS) are holding their annual conference at Dynamic Earth on Monday 2 November, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This year's theme is Power, Partnership, Perseverance, and the day brings together leaders, practitioners and partners from the third, public and academic sectors. It's delivered with Collaboration Partner Public Health Scotland and Community Partner Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.
The line-up is a broad cross-section of Scottish health, care and community work. Angela Constance MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Care of Scotland, will be there, alongside Paul Johnston, Chief Executive of Public Health Scotland. From the third sector, you'll find Mel Young, President and Co-Founder of the Homeless World Cup; Kirsten Hogg, Director of Devolved Nations at Carers Scotland; Amy Callaghan, Policy and Political Advisor at Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland; and Adam Lang, Director of Policy, Insight and Advocacy at Carnegie UK. Rachel Baker, Chair and Director of Yunus, also joins the bill, and Sarah Latto, External Affairs Lead at Voluntary Health Scotland, will be on hand too.
That mix of voices sits at the heart of what VHS does. They're a movement for health creation that works to reduce health inequalities and champion a prevention-first approach to healthcare, with more than 270 members ranging from large national charities to small community groups. Membership is free, and the 2026 conference centres on the idea that Scotland's third sector holds more power and influence than is often recognised.

There's a creative side to the day as well: VHS runs an Images of Impact photography competition with Macmillan Cancer Support, inviting members, staff and volunteers to submit photographs inspired by the theme, with shortlisted entries showcased on the day. The whole thing runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at Dynamic Earth, Holyrood Road, Edinburgh, EH8 8AS.
