Mass-participation road race with 5k, 10k and half marathon around Holyrood Park, beneath Arthur's Seat.
Up and Running Events are back at Holyrood Park on Sunday 8 November, with the 5k, 10k and half marathon returning to the park's roads. It's a regular on Edinburgh's autumn running calendar, and this time it's set for a 09:30 start.
The course runs beneath the slopes of Arthur's Seat, following the park's scenic roads and opening up to sweeping views across the city. There are three distances to choose from, and they all use the same loop: the 5k is one lap, the 10k is two, and the half marathon is four. It's a road route with a hilly profile, so you'll be working for those views.
Up and Running Events are a Scottish mass-participation organiser, and they've built this one around a few specific standards. The courses are fully marked with clear signage, marshals are out along the route, and chip timing is used to keep track of your finish. Every runner gets a bespoke finisher's medal, and the whole thing is run with the supportive, community-driven spirit they say defines their events.
