Former Spandau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley brings his Christmas Big Band Tour, mixing Spandau Ballet hits with swing and crooner classics.
Tony Hadley brings his Christmas Big Band Tour to Usher Hall on Monday 23 November, with doors opening at 18:45 and the show starting at 19:45. It's a big band night, so the set is built around swing and crooner classics, with festive favourites mixed in for the season.
Most people know Hadley as the voice of Spandau Ballet, the New Romantic band he co-founded with school friends. They went through eight top 10 UK albums and a string of top 10 singles, including True, Gold, Only When You Leave and Through The Barricades. On this tour, he brings those hits back into the mix, playing them alongside songs by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Elvis Presley and other crooner greats.
That swing influence goes back a long way for him. Born in Islington, he grew up inspired by Sinatra, whom he saw at the Royal Albert Hall at 17 and met backstage. He's spent much of his career as a crooner and a raconteur, and the big band format suits the style he's known for. The show is presented by Flying Music.
