Weekly late-night session of traditional and folk musicians from across Scotland at the Tolbooth Tavern on the Royal Mile.
Late Night Live Music returns to The Tolbooth Tavern on Thursday 29 July, with traditional and folk musicians from across Scotland taking the stage. It's part of a regular series the tavern runs, bringing folk music into the heart of the Royal Mile rather than keeping it tucked away in the smaller pubs and halls you might expect.
Each session brings together traditional and folk musicians from across Scotland, so the line-up changes from night to night. The music is traditional and folk, and the performers come from all over the country, which means you'll hear a fair cross-section of the Scottish folk scene rather than just one local circle. It's a series that keeps turning up throughout the year, so if you're into this kind of thing, it's one of those nights that comes around again and again.
Beyond these regular sessions, the tavern also stages Scottish-themed celebrations like St Andrew's Day, Burns Week and Burns Night, so it's a venue that stays focused on Scottish music and culture. The Late Night Live Music nights sit alongside those, providing a more frequent, less occasion-led way to catch folk musicians playing live in the city.

The session starts at 21:00, and entry is £5, which includes a welcome drink on arrival — either Ben Lomond Gin or Loch Lomond Whisky. Both are from the Loch Lomond Group, whose Loch Lomond Single Malt and Ben Lomond Gin serve as the house spirits at the tavern. You'll find The Tolbooth Tavern at 167 Canongate, Edinburgh EH8 8BN, right on the Royal Mile.
