One-day conference with talks, demos and panels on creative technology, games and interactive media, plus an unticketed exhibition of creative-technology artworks.
Tinderbox are hosting PlayAway For A Day at Out Of The Blue Drill Hall on Saturday 24 October, a one-day conference and exhibition that brings together creative technology, games and interactive media. It's aimed at anyone curious about where those things meet the arts, education and community work, and it's designed to put people working in those areas in the same room as the projects that come out of their crossover.
The day runs on two tracks. The conference part consists of talks, demos and panels with people working in creative technology, games and interactive media, so you'll hear from practitioners talking through their work rather than just watching a presentation. Alongside that, there's an exhibition of creative-technology artworks running throughout the day. That part is unticketed and open to the public, so you can drop in and see the work without needing to be part of the conference sessions.
Among the pieces on display are Tamagotchi Seance by Nick Murray, Stone Life by Iona Zawinski and Lowtek Lightbook by Alastair Low. The exhibition stays open all day, which means you can wander through the artworks and then head back into the talks when they suit you, rather than having to commit to one or the other.
