Glasgow post-punk band The Twilight Sad, with support from The Ninth Wave, headline the Usher Hall.
The Twilight Sad play Usher Hall on Sunday 6 December, with support from The Ninth Wave. They're a Glasgow band, and they've built a reputation for loud live shows, so this is a good chance to hear them in a room that can handle the volume.
It's their sixth album, IT'S THE LONG GOODBYE, that they're touring, released on 27 March 2026. The core of the band is James Graham on vocals, Andy MacFarlane on guitar, accordion and noise, and Mark Devine on drums. Live, they're joined by Johnny Doc and Martin Doherty, who round out the sound for the stage.
They've been around a long time, though they spent years in the dark before emerging in 2005. They built their sound writing and recording extended pieces of music with a wide variety of instruments—and anything else that would make a sound—before eventually signing to Fat Cat records. That approach, mixing traditional instruments with noise and longer song structures, is a good way to get a sense of what they do.
